Mora Scout 39 Fixed Blade Knife - natural

For supervised camp tasks and woodland skills, a child-sized knife can help introduce practical tool use. The Mora Scout 39 is a fixed blade with a rounded end and double finger guard, making it a considered option for supervised outdoor learning rather than an unattended emergency tool. Its 86 mm blade is made from recycled Swedish stainless steel and is 2,0 mm thick. The barrel-shaped handle is made of blue-stained Scandinavian birch. A vegetable-tanned leather sheath has a button lock to secure the knife and a belt loop; store it securely and use it only with an adult’s supervision.

Where it fits in your kit

• Home emergency box: a place to store a useful tool securely for planned, supervised use.
• Camp: for simple camp tasks with an adult present.
• Bushcraft practice: supports learning careful tool handling and basic outdoor skills.
• Shed or woodstore: keep it stored with other tools, ready for supervised woodland or craft activities.

Prep tips

• Keep the knife secured in its sheath and stored out of children’s reach when not in use.
• Provide close adult supervision whenever it is being handled; a rounded tip does not make a cutting edge risk-free.
• Practise safe handling and cutting technique in a controlled setting before relying on the tool for camp tasks.
