Description / Mora Companion Heavy Duty Carbon Steel Fixed Blade Knife
When you are preparing kindling at camp or working with wood in the woodland, a sturdy knife can take on jobs a lighter blade may not suit. The Mora Companion Heavy Duty is a carbon steel fixed blade knife with a 3.2 mm blade, designed for batoning and more arduous work.
The blade is razor sharp straight from the box, and the handle has a slightly thicker belly than the standard Companion for a more ergonomic fit in adult hands. Keep the carbon steel dry and oil it between uses; regular stropping helps maintain the edge.
Where it fits in your kit
- Camp kit: useful for preparing kindling and general camp tasks.
- Bushcraft work: a robust blade for working with wood.
- Home shed: keep it with tools for planned outdoor and woodwork jobs.
- Woodstore: handy for preparing kindling and managing small wood tasks.
Prep tips
- Store the knife clean and dry, and oil the carbon steel between uses.
- Keep a suitable sharpening method with your kit and practise maintaining the edge.
- Use a stable surface and controlled technique when working with wood.
