Description / Laurin Metalli 145mm Carbon Steel Small Leuku Carving Blade Blank
When you are making a carving tool for planned camp or bushcraft work, this Laurin Metalli blade blank offers a practical starting point. It is a 145mm Small Leuku carving blade made from carbon steel, with 80CrV2 steel specified.
This is a blade blank, not a finished knife. It needs to be fitted into a completed tool before use. Check that your handle design and fitting process are appropriate for the blank, and take care during workshop work.
Where it fits in your kit
- Home workshop: A component for making a carving tool as part of your preparedness projects.
- Shed or woodstore: Keep the unfinished blade with your organised knife-making and tool-maintenance supplies.
- Bushcraft tool-making: Use it as a starting point for a carving tool intended for camp tasks once properly completed.
Prep tips
- Store the carbon steel blade in a dry place and check it periodically for signs of moisture or corrosion.
- Plan and prepare the handle before fitting the blade; do not treat the blank as a ready-to-use knife.
- Use suitable workshop precautions when working with a blade blank, and keep it secured when not in use.
- Finish and inspect the completed tool at home before relying on it for camp tasks.
