Description / Robens Firewood Stove for Off-Grid Cooking
When a power cut or time away from home leaves you without your usual cooking facilities, a wood-burning stove gives you another way to prepare a meal outdoors. The Robens Firewood Stove burns firewood and provides a reliable heat source for cooking, making it a practical option for camp or off-grid use.
Its open design promotes airflow for efficient combustion, and it is suitable for use with various cookware. The compact, lightweight design makes it easier to transport and set up; bring suitable dry firewood and the cookware you plan to use.
Where it fits in your kit
- Home emergency box: an alternative for outdoor cooking during a power cut, where safe and permitted.
- Camp cooking: a wood-fired option for preparing meals away from mains power.
- Off-grid cooking: use firewood as the stove’s fuel when conventional cooking facilities are unavailable.
- Boiling water outdoors: pair it with suitable cookware for heating water.
Prep tips
- Practise setting up and using the stove outdoors before relying on it during a disruption.
- Check local fire restrictions and use the stove on a stable, suitable surface, with clear space around it.
- Keep a separate backup cooking method and its fuel, rather than relying on one option alone.
- Plan how you will store and keep firewood dry, and take only what you need for the planned use.
