Description / Petromax Tripod Lashing for Open-Fire Cooking - Large
When you need to cook without relying on a conventional stove, the Petromax Tripod Lashing Large lets you make a cooking tripod from three branches. Its pre-cut openings grip the branches, giving you a practical way to hang cookware over an open fire.
Fit the lashing around the branches, then use the chain and hooks to suspend a Dutch Oven, teakettle or other cookware. The chain length can be adjusted to change the hanging height and control the heat. The lashing is stainless steel; the chain and hooks are steel.
Where it fits in your kit
- Camp cooking: make a tripod from suitable branches near your cooking area.
- Bushcraft outings: support open-fire cooking with cookware you bring along.
- Off-grid cooking: add a way to hang cookware over a fire when a conventional stove is not in use.
- Home emergency box: keep it with other open-fire cooking equipment for disruptions to normal cooking.
Prep tips
- Practise setting up the lashing and adjusting the chain before you need to cook with it.
- Pair it with suitable cookware and a safe, permitted fire setup.
- Check the lashing, chain and hooks before use, and choose sound branches that fit the stated maximum diameter.
