Description / Petromax Rotating Cast Iron Waffle Iron
When you’re cooking outdoors or need a way to make food without relying on an electric cooker, the Petromax Rotating Cast Iron Waffle Iron lets you prepare waffles, pancakes or flatbreads over an open fire or grill. Its cast iron construction is designed for even heat distribution, making it a useful addition to an outdoor cooking set-up.
The hinged iron locks to contain the batter and sits in a support frame with guiding slots. A side notch acts as a stopper during its 180° rotation. The inside makes heart-shaped waffles; the outer plate can cook thin pancakes or flatbreads with an embossed dragon design. Wooden handles provide a grip while handling the iron.
Where it fits in your kit
- Camp kitchen: Cook waffles or savoury batter over an open fire.
- Off-grid cooking: Make food over a grill when an electric cooker isn’t available.
- Outdoor cooking kit: Add a cast iron option for sweet and savoury recipes.
- Home emergency box: Keep it with outdoor cooking equipment for power cuts when you can cook over an open fire.
Prep tips
- Practise using the iron at camp before relying on it during a disruption.
- Pair it with a suitable open-fire cooking set-up and ingredients for the recipes you plan to make.
- Let the iron cool before putting it away, and store it somewhere dry.
