Description / Petromax Perkomax 1.3L Enamelled Percolator - Black
When a power cut takes your usual kettle out of action, having a way to make a hot drink with a suitable alternative heat source can make a difference. The Petromax Perkomax is a 1.3-litre enamelled percolator for making tea or coffee at home or outdoors.
It can be used on a barbecue, over a campfire, on a cooking plate, a ceramic glass cooktop or an induction cooker. The percolator circulates heated water through coffee powder in a round filter; a longer circulation makes a stronger drink. Preparation time varies with the heat source temperature and the amount of water. It can prepare up to nine cups at a time.
Where it fits in your kit
- Home emergency box: a way to make hot drinks when paired with a suitable alternative cooking source.
- Camp kitchen: use over a campfire or barbecue for tea or coffee outdoors.
- Off-grid cooking: make several cups in one batch when you have a compatible heat source.
- Everyday kitchen: use on a cooking plate, ceramic glass cooktop or induction cooker.
Prep tips
- Keep coffee powder or tea and a cup with your cooking kit so the percolator is ready to use.
- Check which heat sources are available at home or camp, and practise using the percolator before relying on it during a disruption.
- Allow for preparation time to vary with the heat source and quantity of water.
