When a power cut lasts beyond the first few hours, keeping food chilled becomes a practical concern. The Petromax KX25 is a 25 L passive cool box that works with commercially available ice, cold packs or dry ice, without a compressor or absorber. It keeps ice cool for up to 12 days, making it useful for longer outages and trips without powered refrigeration.
The double-walled, void-insulated construction has an insulation layer of at least 45 mm. The interior can hold 24 x 0.33 l cans or 12 x 1 l bottles upright. Pre-cool the box and its contents, place ice or cold packs on top, and open it purposefully and infrequently to help maintain the temperature. An integrated drain lets you remove melt water during use.
