Description / Petromax GP35-T 35cm Cast Iron Grill Fire Skillet
When normal cooking arrangements are unavailable, a skillet that works over an open fire as well as on a stove gives you another way to prepare a meal. The Petromax GP35-T is a 35cm cast-iron grill fire skillet, suited to camp cooking and as part of an off-grid cooking setup. Its durable construction and heat-retaining cast iron make it a practical piece of cookware to keep ready.
The ridged surface gives food a grill pattern and lets excess fat drain away from the food. Heat is distributed evenly and stored in the pan, so it can continue to keep a prepared dish warm. The skillet has a seasoned finish and can be used on an open fire, grill, any stove type or in the oven. Its long pan handle, opposite small handle and hanging eyelet make it straightforward to handle and store.
Where it fits in your kit
- Off-grid cooking: Cook over an open fire when suitable facilities are available.
- Camp kitchen: Prepare grilled meals on a campfire or grill.
- Home emergency box: Keep a sturdy pan available for cooking on a usable stove during a disruption.
- Everyday kitchen: Use on any stove type or in the oven, as well as outdoors.
Prep tips
- Store the skillet somewhere dry and accessible, with its handle clear of other equipment.
- Practise handling and cooking with it before relying on it during a disruption.
- Check that your cooking location and heat source are suitable before using the skillet.
- Clean and care for the pan after use, as recommended for its seasoned finish.
