Description / Petromax Fire Bridge Open-Fire Cooking Frame with Grill Grate
When you need to cook outdoors without relying on a conventional hob, the Petromax Fire Bridge creates a versatile open-fire cooking station. Its steel frame supports suspended cookware and a grilling grate, making it a practical choice for off-grid camp meals or an outdoor emergency cooking setup where a suitable fire can be used.
Set the frame on solid ground before lighting the fire. Suspend pots, moulds, kettles or percolators from the three hooks, and adjust the grilling grate’s height using its chain. The raised edge helps keep food and cookware in place. Once everything has cooled, the frame can be disassembled for storage.
Where it fits in your kit
- Off-grid camp kitchen — cook a range of dishes over an outdoor fire.
- Established camp cooking area — hang cookware and grill at the same station.
- Home emergency cooking setup — useful when normal cooking is unavailable and outdoor fire cooking is suitable.
- Group camp — the long crossbar can serve one or more fire places.
Prep tips
- Practise assembling the frame and adjusting the grate before you need to cook with it.
- Choose solid, level ground and follow local fire restrictions and safe fire practices.
- Keep suitable cookware and fire-lighting equipment with your outdoor cooking kit.
- Let the frame cool before disassembling and storing it.
