Description / Petromax Chain Mail Cleaner for Cast & Wrought Iron
When a meal leaves burnt-on residue on camp cookware, this Petromax Chain Mail Cleaner gives you a practical way to clean cast iron without damaging its valuable patina. Made of stainless steel, it can also be used on wrought iron and stainless steel cookware.
Let the cookware cool, then gently scrub with warm water; no dish detergent is needed. Rinse the cookware once more and dry it thoroughly before putting it away, as damp storage can lead to contact corrosion.
Where it fits in your kit
- Camp cooking kit: clean cookware after meals cooked outdoors.
- Off-grid kitchen: maintain pots and pans when cooking away from mains services.
- Home emergency box: keep a useful cookware-cleaning tool with equipment for disrupted routines.
- Cast-iron cookware storage: clean residue before drying and stowing your cookware.
Prep tips
- Allow hot cookware to cool before cleaning it.
- Keep warm water available for gentle scrubbing, and rinse the cookware after cleaning.
- Dry cookware thoroughly before stowing it to help avoid contact corrosion.
