Description / Petromax 17L Cooler Backpack for Ice-Cooled Food - Olive
When a power cut or an off-grid trip makes a fridge unavailable, keeping food and drinks cool becomes a practical concern. The Petromax 17L Cooler Backpack uses ice cubes for electricity-free cooling, with cooling for up to 6 days according to the supplied product information.
Its padded back, adjustable shoulder straps and chest strap make it easier to carry than a conventional coolbox. The water-repellent nylon fabric and wipe-clean surfaces help with spills, while the pockets and external attachment points provide space for other items.
Where it fits in your kit
- Home emergency box: A way to keep chilled food together during a power cut, provided you have ice.
- Camp: Carry food and drinks without relying on a powered fridge.
- Off-grid trips: Transport provisions in an insulated, wearable format.
- Car travel: Keep refreshments together for a journey or outdoor stop.
Prep tips
- Plan how you will source or freeze ice before relying on the cooler for a trip or outage.
- Pre-chill food and drinks where possible, and keep the backpack closed when not accessing its contents.
- Pack chilled items securely and upright to help avoid spills.
- Wipe the interior and exterior clean after use, then let it dry before storing.
