Opinel Picnic Cutlery Accessory Set (No Knife)

When a power cut, water outage or change of plans means eating away from your usual kitchen, reusable cutlery is a useful addition to a simple meal kit. The Opinel Picnic set provides a fork and spoon that attach to a compatible No. 08 knife, with a microfibre towel case for storage and cleaning. The knife is not included. The two stainless steel inserts are designed for wooden-handled No. 08 knives equipped with the Virobloc safety ring, marketed since 2000. To fit an insert, keep the knife blade closed, open the rotating ring, attach the fork or spoon using the small nicks, then close the ring. The set is compact, lightweight and designed to replace disposable cutlery.

Where it fits in your kit

• Home emergency box: reusable utensils for meals when normal routines are disrupted.
• Camp cooking kit: a fork and spoon to use with a compatible Opinel No. 08.
• Off-grid meal kit: a compact alternative to packing disposable cutlery.

Prep tips

• Check that your No. 08 knife has a wooden handle and the compatible Virobloc safety ring before relying on the inserts.
• Practise fitting and removing each insert at home, with the blade closed.
• Keep the case with your meal kit so the inserts are together when you need them.
