Opinel No.9 Ocean Locking Partially Serrated Knife (9cm) Yellow

When a camp or nautical task calls for cutting line or working with knots, the Opinel No.9 Ocean is a folding knife with a partially serrated blade and a hardened steel marlinspike. Its 110dB whistle adds a signalling option, while the Virobloc double safety ring locks the blade when not in use. The marlinspike is intended for tasks such as splicing and knotting. The polyamide handle is described as providing a secure grip in wet conditions, and a lanyard hole lets you attach a lanyard. Keep and use the knife only where you have a lawful reason to do so.

Where it fits in your kit

• Camp kit: for suitable line-cutting and knot work at camp.
• Bushcraft kit: a folding tool for practical camp tasks.
• Home emergency box: useful for occasional rope and cord tasks around the home.

Prep tips

• Store it safely and keep the blade clean and dry between uses.
• Practise handling the marlinspike with spare cord before relying on it for knot work.
