Description / Opinel No.6 Locking Carbon Steel Knife (7cm)
When you need to prepare food at camp or tackle light woodwork, a compact folding knife can earn its place in your kit. The Opinel No.6 has a 7cm XC90 carbon steel blade and a Virobloc ring that locks the blade open or closed. Its varnished beech handle gives you a comfortable grip for everyday camp and household tasks.
The blade is suited to light-medium duty jobs such as whittling, feathering sticks and chopping vegetables. Carbon steel can be sharpened to a very keen edge, though the source notes that it will not hold that edge as long as stainless steel. Wipe the blade clean and dry after use, and check the locking ring before working.
