Description / Military Aluminium Mess Tin Set of 2, 1.5 & 1.3 Litre
When a power cut or a trip away from the kitchen calls for a simple way to prepare a meal, this Military Mess Tin Set gives you two compact containers for cooking and carrying food. Made from durable aluminium, the tins have capacities of 1.5 litre and 1.3 litres, and the smaller one fits inside the larger for storage.
Use them to cook meals over a campfire or portable stove, or to hold packed food and leftovers. The two sizes can also serve as a plate and bowl when eating outdoors. Pair them with a suitable heat source and keep the steel handles clear of heat while cooking.
Where it fits in your kit
- Home emergency box: useful cookware when you have a suitable backup cooking method.
- Camp kitchen: cook simple meals over a campfire or portable stove.
- Off-grid cooking: boil water or prepare soups and stews away from mains-powered appliances.
- Food storage: carry dry goods or keep leftovers together while camping.
Prep tips
- Pack the smaller tin inside the larger one to save space.
- Keep a suitable stove or campfire cooking method and its fuel with your kit; the tins do not provide heat on their own.
- Practise setting up your cooking arrangement before relying on it during a disruption.
- Clean and dry the tins after use before storing them with your kit.
