Description / Marttiini Snappy Wood Whittling and Carving Knife
When you’re working at camp or in the woods without relying on ready-made kit, a small carving knife is useful for shaping wood by hand. The Marttiini Snappy is a fixed-blade whittling and carving knife with a 5.9 cm carbon steel blade, which the source describes as easy to keep sharp. Its waxed birch handle follows the traditional Marttiini Lynx handle shape.
The knife comes with a black leather sheath. Use it for controlled wood-carving tasks at home, in the shed or at camp, and store it in its sheath when not in use. Keep the blade clean and dry, particularly after working outdoors.
Where it fits in your kit
- Home workshop: A compact option for small wood-carving projects.
- Shed or woodstore: Keep it with hand tools for occasional woodwork.
- Camp: Useful for carving small wooden items while staying at camp.
- Bushcraft and woodland work: A hand tool for shaping wood during lawful outdoor activities.
Prep tips
- Store the knife clean and dry, and keep it in its sheath when put away.
- Practise controlled carving at home before relying on the tool outdoors.
- Use a suitable cutting surface and keep your free hand clear of the blade’s path.
