Laurin Metalli 80mm Stainless Steel Carving Blade Blank

When a useful carving tool needs making or replacing for camp and woodland work, this Laurin Metalli stainless steel blade blank provides the blade component for a knife-making project. It is a specialist workshop item rather than a finished knife, so it earns a place in a preparedness setup where maintaining and making practical tools is part of the plan. The blade measures 80mm long, 16mm deep and 3.25mm wide, and is made from X50CrMoV15 stainless steel. It needs to be fitted and finished as part of a suitable knife-making project before it can be used as a carving tool. Plan the handle and finishing work before starting, and practise the process in your workshop rather than relying on a newly made tool for an urgent job.

Where it fits in your kit

• Home workshop: a component for a planned carving-tool project.
• Shed or woodstore: keep it with knife-making and woodworking supplies.
• Camp preparation: make or maintain a carving tool for camp tasks.

Prep tips

• Store the blank securely with your workshop materials, away from children and accidental contact.
• Keep suitable handle-making and finishing materials together with it; check that your planned method is appropriate before beginning.
• Complete and practise with the tool at home before relying on it for camp work.
