Description / Hultafors STK Chisel Knife with 72mm Carbon Steel Blade
When a camp repair or practical woodcraft job calls for a precise cut, a larger tool may be too cumbersome. The Hultafors STK Chisel Knife is a fixed-blade knife for detailed cutting, carving and whittling, making it a useful addition to a bushcraft or home workshop kit.
Its 72mm blade is made from Japanese 3mm carbon steel, hardened to 58 to 60 HRC. The 201mm overall length and durable PP plastic handle make it suited to hands-on work; the source notes that the handle provides a secure hold even in wet conditions.
Where it fits in your kit
- Home workshop: Keep it with tools for carving and detailed woodwork.
- Shed or woodstore: Use it for small projects where a precise cut is needed.
- Camp: A practical tool for camp woodcraft and carving tasks.
- Bushcraft and woodland work: Useful for detailed work with wood.
Prep tips
- Store the knife clean and dry, and check its condition before use.
- Practise controlled cuts on suitable wood before relying on it for a task.
- Keep a sharpening tool with your workshop kit so you can maintain the edge as needed.
