Description / Highlander Kip Mat Compat Self-Inflating Camping Mat - Olive Green
When an evacuation or unexpected night away means sleeping on the ground, this lightweight self-inflating mat adds cushioning and helps reduce heat loss beneath your sleeping bag. The Highlander Kip Mat Compat is a compact choice for three-season camping, with an R value of 3.2 tested to ASTM F3340.
The 3cm insulating foam core inflates through a one-way system in the dual layer valve, while a separate valve function allows quick deflation for packing. A transparent silicone anti-slip print on one side helps keep your sleeping bag in position. It weighs 565g and rolls into the included stuff sack.
Where it fits in your kit
- Grab bag: a compact sleeping layer for an unplanned night away.
- Home emergency box: useful bedding backup if you need to sleep away from your usual bed.
- Camp kit: cushioning and insulation beneath a sleeping bag on three-season trips.
- Off-grid sleep setup: a lightweight mat for nights without access to a bed.
Prep tips
- Practise inflating and deflating the mat before packing it for a trip or emergency.
- Store it clean and dry, and check it periodically for damage.
- Pair it with a sleeping bag suited to the conditions and a suitable groundsheet.
