Description / Highlander Kip 50 Self-Inflating Camping Mat - Olive

When you need to sleep away from home during a storm, evacuation or off-grid trip, a comfortable mat can make the night easier. The Highlander Kip 50 is a three season self-inflating camping mat with a 5cm foam core to lift you off the ground and help reduce heat loss. Its adjustable firmness lets you choose the sleeping support that suits you. The one-way air-in valve assists self-inflation, while the dual layer, two-way valve system makes inflation and deflation straightforward. A transparent silicone anti-slip print helps prevent movement between the mat and sleeping bag. It rolls down for storage in the included stuff sack.

Where it fits in your kit

  • Home emergency box: a sleeping option if disruption means you need to bed down away from your usual room.
  • Grab bag: useful for planned overnight stays away from home, if the mat suits your carrying space.
  • Camping kit: adds cushioning and insulation for three season trips.
  • Off-grid shelter: pair it with a suitable sleeping bag for nights at camp.

Prep tips

  • Practise inflating, adjusting and deflating the mat before relying on it for an overnight stay.
  • Make sure it is fully dry before storing it to help keep your sleep kit in good condition.
  • Check the mat and valve before each trip, and pack a separate backup sleep option if the conditions call for one.
