Description / Highlander Kip 50 Self-Inflating Camping Mat - Deep Blue
Sleeping on cold, hard ground can make a night outdoors uncomfortable. The Highlander Kip 50 is a self-inflating camping mat with a 5cm insulating foam core, giving you a raised sleeping surface that helps reduce heat loss during three season use.
Its dual layer, two way valve has a one way air-in function for inflation and a deflate layer to speed up packing away. Adjust the firmness to suit your preference, and use the transparent silicone print on one side to help keep your sleeping bag in place. The mat rolls into its included stuff sack for carrying and storage.
Where it fits in your kit
- Camping sleep kit: insulation and cushioning between you and the ground.
- Off-grid shelter: a more comfortable sleeping surface when away from home.
- Home emergency box: useful if you need a temporary sleeping setup during a disruption.
- Spare camping kit: keep it with your tent and sleeping bag so the sleep system is ready together.
Prep tips
- Store it dry and rolled as directed, and check it periodically for damage before a trip.
- Practise inflating, adjusting and deflating the mat at home before relying on it outdoors.
- Pair it with a sleeping bag suited to the expected conditions; the mat is only one part of a warm sleep setup.
