Description / Highlander Blackthorn 1 One Person Compact Trekking Tent
If an evacuation or disrupted journey means you need to sleep away from home, a tent gives you a shelter option you can take along. The Highlander Blackthorn 1 is a one-person trekking tent with a compact pack size, making it a practical choice for planned trips and a considered addition to an emergency kit.
It is an inner-pitch-first design with a side storage area for keeping items close by. Taped seams and pre-attached high-visibility guylines are useful features when pitching the tent. Practise setting it up before relying on it, so you know how the pitching sequence works.
Where it fits in your kit
- Home emergency box: Keep a shelter option ready for an evacuation or an unexpected night away.
- Grab bag or bug-out bag: Its compact pack size makes it worth considering when planning what shelter to carry.
- Trekking camp: A one-person tent for overnight trips where you need your own shelter.
- Off-grid camp: Set up a sleeping space when staying away from buildings and services.
Prep tips
- Practise pitching and packing the tent before a trip or emergency; familiarity makes setup more straightforward.
- After use, check that the tent is dry before storing it, and inspect it for damage.
- Keep a separate sleep-warmth plan, such as suitable sleeping kit, rather than relying on shelter alone.
- Review your emergency kit periodically to make sure the tent is accessible and ready to take.
