Description / Highlander Blackthorn 1 Gen2 Solo Tent - Scarab Green
When a storm or short-notice evacuation leaves you needing a place to sleep, a compact tent gives you a shelter option beyond the home. The Highlander Blackthorn 1 Gen2 is a one-person tent with taped seams, an integrated bug net and a fully sewn-in groundsheet. Its packed size is 29cm (L) x 14cm (D), and it weighs 1.710kg (1.67kg without drybag).
The 6.9mm fibreglass poles use a secure eyelet and buckle system. The flysheet has a 2000mm waterproof rating, while the groundsheet has 3000mm waterproofing. A built-in hanging line gives you a place to dry clothes or organise gear, and the heavy-duty stuff sack makes it easier to store and transport.
Where it fits in your kit
- Home emergency box: a shelter option to have ready if you need to leave home.
- Bug-out bag: consider its packed size and weight when planning your load.
- Solo camp: a one-person shelter for an overnight outdoors.
- Off-grid trips: the integrated bug net helps keep insects out while you sleep.
Prep tips
- Practise pitching the tent before you need it, and check that all parts are present.
- Choose a level site and avoid places where rainwater may collect.
- Pair it with a sleeping bag and mat suited to the conditions.
- Dry the tent before storing it, and check it periodically for wear or damage.
