Description / Gerber Ultimate Fixed Blade Knife with Firestarter - Green
When you are setting up camp or working with wood away from home, a reliable knife and a way to start a fire can both earn their place in your kit. The Gerber Ultimate is a fixed-blade knife with a partially serrated edge, supplied with a firestarter, sharpener and whistle in its sheath.
Its full tang, drop point blade is made from stainless 7Cr17MoV steel. A notch on the back of the blade is designed for sparking with the firestarter. The rubberised handle has a non-slip texture and a flattened, cut end that can be used as a hammer. The plastic and nylon sheath secures the knife with a pressure lock and hook-and-loop strap, and has loops for vertical or horizontal belt attachment.
Where it fits in your kit
- Camp kit: a general-purpose tool for camp tasks.
- Bushcraft equipment: useful for working with wood and preparing camp.
- Home workshop or shed: keep it with tools for outdoor and woodstore jobs.
- Fire-lighting equipment: the supplied firestarter is stored with the knife in its sheath.
Prep tips
- Store the knife securely at home, in a shed or with camp equipment, and follow UK laws on possession and transport.
- Practise safe handling and fire-starting technique before relying on the kit outdoors.
- Keep the edge maintained with the supplied sharpener and check that the sheath secures the knife properly after use.
