Description / Gerber Bushcraft Axe - Coyote with Forged Head
When storm damage or a planned camp means you need to process wood, a suitable axe can make the job more manageable. The Gerber Bushcraft Axe is a full-size tool with a forged single-piece head and an overstrike guard, designed for practical woodwork at home or at camp.
The rubber overmold grip at the bottom of the axe head provides additional choke-up cutting utility, and the hammerhead offers another useful function. A waterproof storage stick nests in the handle and has two compartments for a mini lighter, firestarter or dry tinder; it also holds 9 inches of paracord. Porting reduces weight.
Where it fits in your kit
- Home woodstore — for preparing firewood and handling routine woodwork.
- Shed — a practical tool to keep with other wood-working equipment.
- Camp — for preparing wood for camp tasks and fires.
- Bushcraft and woodland work — for suitable wood preparation where you have permission to work.
Prep tips
- Store the axe securely at home, away from children and where the edge cannot cause accidental injury.
- Check the axe and its handle before use, and practise controlled technique on suitable wood.
- Keep a separate firelighting method with your camp kit; the handle storage compartments can hold a mini lighter, firestarter or dry tinder.
