Description / DD Superlight Tarp - Ultralight Waterproof Shelter - Coyote Brown
When a storm brings rain at camp or you need cover while setting up an emergency shelter, the DD Superlight Tarp gives you a lightweight option. It measures 3m x 2.9m and weighs 490g excluding pegs and guy lines, making it a practical choice when pack weight matters. Its ripstop nylon construction has a 3,000mm PU waterproof coating and a taped central seam.
Use the 19 reinforced attachment points to choose a setup to suit the conditions: 16 are around the sides and corners, with 3 along the centre ridge line. It can cover a regular-sized hammock or be pitched as an open or closed ground shelter. Four SuperLight pegs and guy lines are included, along with a stuff sack.
Where it fits in your kit
- Grab bag or 72-hour kit: compact shelter cover for an evacuation or an unplanned night outdoors.
- Home emergency box: a useful shelter option to keep alongside other storm supplies.
- Camp and bushcraft: cover a hammock or make an open or closed ground shelter.
- Day trips: carry a lightweight shelter for rest stops in wet weather.
Prep tips
- Practise pitching it before you need it, so you know how to use the attachment points.
- Check the tarp, pegs and guy lines periodically and keep them together in the stuff sack.
- Pair it with suitable shelter and warmth layers; a tarp provides cover but is not a sleeping bag.
