Description / DD Hammock Underblanket Coyote Brown for Cold-Weather Camping
When a cold night makes a hammock lose heat from underneath, the DD Hammock Underblanket provides insulation beneath you. It hangs below the hammock, helping make a more comfortable place to sleep when camping off-grid or staying out in changeable weather.
Your body weight can compress clothing or sleeping-bag loft beneath you, allowing heat to escape. The underblanket hangs separately to create a pocket of air warmed by your body heat. Hang it with a little slack so it gently hugs the hammock when you are inside; the source recommends setting it up with a slight bias towards your head. It is 2m long and suitable for use in temperatures down to -5C.
Where it fits in your kit
- Hammock camping kit: adds insulation beneath you on cold nights.
- Off-grid sleep setup: useful when your overnight shelter is a hammock.
- Camp sleep system: works alongside your hammock and sleeping bag.
Prep tips
- Practise hanging and adjusting it before relying on it for an overnight stay.
- Allow a little slack so the underblanket can sit around the hammock when occupied.
- Check your hammock model and attachment points before packing the underblanket.
- Pack suitable sleeping layers as well; this item insulates beneath the hammock.
