Description / British Army MTP Waterproof Bivvy Bag - Grade 1
When bad weather makes an outdoor night unavoidable, a waterproof layer around your sleeping bag helps keep your sleep system sheltered. This genuine British Army surplus MTP bivvy bag is a practical addition to a grab bag or camping kit, with waterproof, breathable fabric and taped seams for added weather resistance.
The mummy shape is designed to fit closely around a sleeping bag, with a drawstring hood for coverage around your head and shoulders. It is lightweight and packable, so it can be stored with your sleep kit and brought out when you need shelter from wet conditions.
Where it fits in your kit
- Grab bag: a weather-protection layer if you need to sleep outdoors at short notice.
- Home emergency box: keep it with sleeping kit for an evacuation or temporary loss of shelter.
- Camp and bushcraft: use it around your sleeping bag for an overnight outdoors.
- Off-grid sleep kit: adds a waterproof outer layer when camping away from buildings.
Prep tips
- Check the bag and seams before relying on it, as this is surplus kit and the item may differ from the photo.
- Practise fitting it around your sleeping bag before packing it away.
- Pair it with suitable sleeping kit; a bivvy bag is an outer cover, not a sleeping bag.
- After use, dry it before storing to help keep your sleep kit ready.
