Huckleberry Fishing Kit with 635cm of Line

When you are camping or spending time off-grid, this compact fishing kit offers a simple way to try fishing for food. The Huckleberry Fishing Kit comes on a fish-shaped holder and includes fishing line, a floater, weight and hook, giving you the basic components for a straightforward setup.

Unwind the line, find a stick and tie the line to it. Add a worm or other bait to the hook, then cast. Learning to fish takes patience, so practise before you rely on the kit and check the rules that apply where you plan to fish. The hook is sharp, so handle and store it carefully.

Where it fits in your kit

• Camp food kit: a basic fishing option alongside your planned food supplies.
• Off-grid cooking setup: use it when fishing is permitted and suitable bait is available.
• Home emergency box: keep it with other practical supplies for a disruption that lasts beyond your usual plans.
• Outdoor skills practice: learn the simple setup before a trip, when there is time to get familiar with it.

Prep tips

• Practise tying the line to a stick and setting the bait before you need the kit.
• Keep the hook safely contained when storing or handling the kit.
• Pack food you can rely on as well; fishing is not a guaranteed source of a meal.
• Check local fishing rules and permissions before fishing.
