Brass Meths Burner Stove for Off-Grid Cooking

When a power cut or time away from home interrupts normal cooking, a compact burner gives you another option for preparing food. This lightweight brass meths burner is a straightforward choice for an off-grid cooking kit, with the source describing it as suitable for military exercise or expedition use.

Use meths fuel and follow the burner’s instructions for setup and operation. Keep it on a stable, non-combustible surface, away from tents, loose fabric and other flammable materials. Allow the burner to cool fully before handling or storing it.

Where it fits in your kit

• Home emergency box: a compact cooking option to keep with other outage supplies.
• Expedition cooking kit: lightweight equipment for trips where packing space matters.
• Camp cooking: a burner for a simple cooking setup when away from home.
• Off-grid supplies: keep it with suitable fuel and the other items needed for your cooking setup.

Prep tips

• Store meths in a clearly labelled, sealed container, away from heat and ignition sources.
• Keep a separate backup cooking method so one piece of equipment is not your only option.
• Practise setting up and using the burner before relying on it; follow its instructions and use it in a well-ventilated area.
