BCB Mayday 2 Inch Floating Signalling Mirror

When you need to attract attention outdoors and other communications are unavailable, a mirror gives you a way to send a visual signal in daylight. The BCB Mayday 2 Inch Floating Signalling Mirror is a compact, practical backup for an emergency kit, with high reflectivity and a floating design for use around water.

It is designed for one-handed operation, and the instructions are printed on the reverse for reference when you need them. BCB states that the 2 Inch mirror can be visible at distances exceeding 10 miles. Its rugged construction is intended to withstand demanding environments.

Where it fits in your kit

• Grab bag: A lightweight visual signalling option to keep with other emergency communications.
• Home emergency box: A backup for attracting attention if you need to signal outdoors.
• Boat or marine kit: The floating design suits situations around water.
• Camp kit: Keep it available as a daylight signal when you are away from easy communications.

Prep tips

• Keep the mirror clean and readily accessible so it is easier to use when needed.
• Practise using it in a safe, open area before relying on it; read the instructions printed on the reverse.
• Pair visual signalling with another method, such as a whistle or radio, so you have a backup if conditions make a mirror signal ineffective.
